7th Triennial Mosasaur Meeting
A global perspective on Mesozoic marine amniotes
Centre Céramique/Natuurhistorisch Museum Maastricht
Maastricht, the Netherlands
September 12-15, 2024
Dear colleagues and friends –
We are pleased to inform you that we shall be organising the 7th Triennial Mosasaur Meeting at the Centre Céramique and Natuurhistorisch Museum Maastricht, the Netherlands, from September 12 to 15, 2024.
The first Mosasaur Meeting took place in Maastricht (May 2004) and has since run triennially (2007 – Hays, Kansas; 2010 – Paris, France; 2013 – Dallas, Texas; 2016 – Uppsala, Sweden; 2019 – Drumheller, Canada). These symposia have been unique in bringing together scholars, MSc and PhD students and non-professional palaeontologists, within an informal forum dedicated to these amazing extinct reptiles.
For the 5th Mosasaur Meeting (Uppsala, 2016), the decision was made to expand the event to encompass a global perspective of Mesozoic marine amniote evolution, including sauropterygians, ichthyopterygians, crocodylians and turtles, and this has since been common practice. We wish to foster an integration of knowledge, approaches and data amongst specialist researchers and thus instigate collaborations that will advance the field.
The 7th Mosasaur Meeting will be co-hosted by Maastricht University (UM – Maastricht Science Programme, MSP), Natuurmonumenten, the Oertijdmuseum (Boxtel) and Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Leiden).
