This is one the many underground galleries. As you can see, it is quite straight.
It has been created entirely by sawing out huge blocks of rock. This did not happen overnight, of course,
but was a process lasting centuries. In the walls you can see vertical lines, which are interrupted by oblique
scratches.
This shows the size of the blocks which were removed.
The people who had to do this work were called 'blokbrekers'.
