The Tegelen Collection

[Eucladocores tegulensis gewei]

[Trogontherium cuvieri (beaver)]
From the Tegelen clay deposits a large number of well-preserved fossils have been collected, which together illustrate well the flora and fauna of the Tiglian, the time interval between 2.2 and 1.7 million years ago, which was named after the village of Tegelen, in the north of Dutch Limburg. Besides a wide variety of plants, the fossil remains of species of beaver (2), panther, elephant, monkey, tapir, rhinoceros, deer and pond tortoise have been found.
