Butterflies Butterflies take up most of the space in the insect storage facilities. The collection comprises more than 60,000 specimens, mainly from Limburg and adjacent areas. Together they form an invaluable record of the distribution of the various species over the years and of the variation within the various species. In addition to the general collection a number of subcollections are curated: those of Major Rijk, Dr C. Franssen, E. Lücker, A.W.P. Maassen and J. Pfennings. |
