NewsJan Douwe explores On Monday, November 12, shooting for an episode in the series of television programmes entitled, 'Jan Douwe op zoek ....' (Jan Douwe explores ....) was finished. In this particular episode, we have seen what the collection, preparation and conservation/curation of fossils all boils down, triggered mainly by the discovery of Bčr. Ruud
Dortangs spoke to Jan Douwe Kroeske about the search for and the
collection of fossils in the field, John Jagt outlined what southern
Limburg looked like during the Maastrichtian and how we know all
this, and Anne Schulp has demonstrated why we think Bčr is so important
and how we have determined his place in the phylogenetic tree. Finally,
Jan Douwe Kroeske took up the preparation tools himself, and attempted
to free one of Bčr's ribs from the limestone and flint matrix. This episode of 'Jan Douwe op zoek ...' was broadcasted by RTL5 Saturday December 8, 7.30 pm (local time). ![]() ![]() close window | newsarchive |
