Made-to-measure

Pictures from 1918
The film 'Limburg in Beeld', rediscovered in 1994, shows the southern Limburg countryside in the early twentieth century.
This is the first Dutch educational film shot by cinematographer Jules Stoop.

The film was originally produced to convince Dutch educationists of the possibilities offered by the medium film in the geography curriculum.

Idyllic pictures of characteristic farming families and of everyday life on a southern Limburg farmstead alternate with ‘action shots’ of operational steam trains and workers toiling in the 'mergel' quarries.
